A very useful article and “how-to” by Saikat Basu at MakeUseOf.com…

Thankfully, when it comes to logic, the right tools can help simplify any process. Flowcharts are among those visual thinking tools that go grossly ignored for non-technical tasks. Maybe because flowcharting started purely as an engineering skill and didn’t go beyond the draft boards of industrial planners. With its leap towards computer algorithms it became more mainstream.

Windows 9 Update!  Very interesting report from Mary Jo Foley at ZDNet.com…

Microsoft is aiming to deliver a “technology preview” of its Windows “Threshold” operating system by late September or early October, according to multiple sources of mine who asked not to be named.

Wow.  I learned a few tricks in this article by Ryan Dube at MakeUseOf.com…

Hidden features you say? Absolutely. They include keyboard shortcuts, secret tricks and other interesting features that most long-term Windows 7 users never realized existed, and a few features that amazingly were added as late as the last year or two – evidence by the fact that they were just recently added to the Windows 7 New Features download provided by Microsoft.

Good news reported by Paul Thurrott on his blog.  I like MS Office, and I love the iPad.  I hope it’s a good marriage!

With Microsoft Executive Vice President Tami Reller seeming to tiptoe around a discussion about Microsoft’s plans for delivering a full-featured Office version for iPad this year, we don’t need to parse her comments to learn more. A related and reliable report suggests that Microsoft is in fact speeding up the delivery of Office for iPad. And it will probably arrive ahead of the version for Windows 8.

While I have personally adapted to Windows 8 and 8.1, it is a disaster for Microsoft.  I’m so pleased to read this article by one of my favorite tech authors, Paul Thurrott.  From his blog at WinSupersite.com…

At the BUILD developer conference in April 2014, Microsoft will discuss its vision for the future of Windows, including a year-off release codenamed “Threshold” that will most likely be called Windows 9. Here’s what I know about the next major release of Windows.

External drives — either USB flash drives or external hard drives — should be easy to use. In some cases, you may connect your drive to a Windows PC or another device with a USB port and find that it’s not recognized. This problem can be caused by partition issues on your external drive, using the wrong file system, dead USB ports, driver issues in Windows, or other problems. In a worst case scenario, the drive itself may simply be dead.
